Care Instructions for Pearl Jewelry

Because pearls are natural and formed inside a pearl, they can be damaged, or scratched, but for the most part they are fairly tuff. Here are a few guidelines:

-
Apply lotions and perfume (or other chemicals) prior to putting on your pearls. The mantra goes “Pearls are the last thing to go on, and the first thing to come off!”
-
Don’t store your pearls with other sharp jewelry that could scratch them.
-
Store your pearls where they are open to the air, and never store them long term in a plastic bag or other perfectly sealed compartment as their color can change over the years if this is done.
-
Don’t use an abrasive cloth to clean your pearls, a lint-free cloth will work just fine.
-
If you need to clean your pearl, only use mild soap solution, and always keep them away from solutions containing ammonia.
